About the writer of this unit of work
Sophie Honeybourne is an assistant principal at Beauty Point Public School in Sydney. Since graduating in 2005 with a Master of Teaching from The University of Sydney, she has worked in various Sydney public schools where she has designed, and led staff to develop, innovative teaching and learning programs that strongly feature new technologies.
Sophie is a passionate advocate for the use of quality children’s literature in the classroom. She has authored over 50 nationally published units of work to support the teaching of literature in the classroom as part of PETAA’s ‘Exploring the CBCA Short List’ series. She has also delivered professional learning sessions at school, local, state and national levels to further support teachers in the development of quality literacy teaching.
